The design starts with the establishment of the concept and the observations of the city, then make the architecture as the practice of the concept to discover the interesting combination and possibilities of the space.
The base is located at No. 48, Section 1, Chongqing South Road. It was used as a hotel and a post office in the past, but it is now idle. If we remove the perspective we usually use to understand a building in terms of “whole”, such as time sequence, functional use, front and side, Inside and outside… etc., and then use the “part” architectural language to understand the whole, you will find that No. 48, Section 1, Chongqing South Road has been repeatedly defined, and has never been idle; the design focus will be on the operation mechanism of the building, the street and the relationship between alleys, the interior and exterior of space, and the redefinition of affiliation; the intention is to translate seemingly unrelated but intermingled relationships into a flexible spatial structure. There’s no specific program, and none of the programs are the most suitable for being Placed, at the same time, it will also be suitable for any scheme and combination relationship; streets and alleys are no longer regarded as belongings, but two equal axes are juxtaposed, and the three cores on the plane are intended to describe space and concepts. the diagonal line on the wall, the floor and the opening together form a relationship that can be interpreted in multiple directions. Space can have multiple qualities of interior and exterior at the same time.
