City Guard-Pumping Stations:A New System of Infrastructure and Urban Space

The pumping stations are like guards of the city, hide behind the life of the system, and operate silently to protect people’s city. But can they also guard the river beyond the embankment at the same time, like a mechanical version of the Earth God temple? The boundary between the city and the river is not an insignificant line, but a thick wall. River banks, roads, highlands, etc. are elements of this thickness. The pumping stations located along the river are the only buildings whose function is to cut through this thick wall. As the thickness changes and the texture of the surrounding city varies, the large and small pumping stations with vertical farms and water purification systems as the base are given a meaning other than physical infrastructure, and become a new system of infrastructure and urban space. |
