I never returned to that dream.
I once believed that by moving closer and closer to it, I might rediscover the image that had
remained in my memory. Through being cut, observed, arranged, placed into space, carried by
materials, and brought into the world, the line gradually became something else. It drifted away
from its original form in the dream. It began to acquire scale, weight, and position. It entered into
relationships with space, with others, and with the world around it.Perhaps these works were never
about finding an answer to the dream. Instead, they became a way of understanding how a line
continuously generates relationships through acts of viewing, making, and inhabiting reality. The
feeling from the dream can never be reproduced. Yet the experiences that emerged between line,
space, and body remain. They all preserve the same thing:
a state that cannot be fully explained, yet remains remembered by the body.
