在樹和根莖之間

由大高正人設計、常被描述為「失敗的新陳代謝派計畫」的坂出人工土地，是否正是缺少了這種生命力？本計畫將人工土地重新定義為地球與建築之間的「第三層」。透過將人類居住空間抬升至地面之上，人工土地既將建築與地球分離，又創造了一個既不屬於地球也不屬於建築的模糊領域。現有結構得以保留，土壤則填充於其內部及表面。作為植物、動物、微生物、水與時間的催化劑，土壤將人工土地轉化為介於大地與建築之間的生命層，重新定義了建築物——使其成為地球持續演變過程中的參與者。

Was vitality what was missing from the Sakaide Artificial Land—designed by Masato Otaka and often described as a “failed Metabolist project”? This project reconsiders artificial land as a “third layer” between the Earth and architecture. By elevating human habitation above the ground, the artificial land separated architecture from the Earth while creating an ambiguous realm belonging to neither. The existing structure is preserved and soil is inserted within and upon it. As a catalyst for plants, animals, microorganisms, water, and time, soil transforms the artificial land into a living layer that mediates between the Earth and architecture, redefining architecture as a participant in the Earth’s continuous processes.

大高正人により設計され、「メタボリズムの失敗作」と呼ばれる坂出人工土地に足りなかったものは、生命力か。本計画は、人工土地を地球と建築のあいだに存在する「第三の層」として再考する試みである。人工土地は、人間の居住を地表から持ち上げることで建築を地球から切り離した一方、地球でも建築でもない曖昧な領域を生み出したと考えた。本計画では既存の人工地盤を保存し、その下部や上部に生命力の象徴である土を挿入する。土は植物や動物、微生物、水、そして時間を呼び込む触媒として機能し、人工土地を地球と建築を媒介する生きた層へと変化させる。これにより建築は、地球の上に置かれた物体ではなく、地球の営みに参与する存在として再定義される
